The newly proclaimed officials of Negros Occidental vowed to push for a
one-island-region, the building of ports, and address the more urgent needs
brought on by the long El Niño drought.
The Commission on Elections Saturday proclaimed the six winning representatives of Negros Occidental and four board members, and is set to proclaim Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, Vice Gov. Romeo Gamboa and six more Sangguniang Panlalawigan members today.
Proclaimed Saturday were congressmen Julio Ledesma (Lakas NUCD) - first district, Alfredo Marañon (Lakas-NUCD) - second district, Edith Villanueva (Independent) - third district, Carlos Cojuangco (NPC) - fourth district, Apolinario Lozada (Lakas-NUCD) - fifth district, and Genaro Alvarez (NPC) - sixth district.
