The Governor's Message
"Some cities you fall in love with instantly, Paris for example; others, like Bacolod, you have to really know for you to fully appreciate," thus declared a well-traveled advertising man of his growing fondness for the Sugarland of the Philippines. By then he had been introduced to some of the places and things indigenous to Negros Occidental. On this and his previous visit, he had savored the cool mountain of Mambucal Summer Resort, wondered at the antique collections of Montilla, Vega and Hofeliña, indulged his gustatory taste in Silay City, and tried the vintage locomotives of Victorias Milling Company and Azucarera de La Carlota. More importantly, he had the time and the good fortune to meet and interact with local people who epitomize the best of the Negrense.
